Healing through Painting

Healing through Painting

When the holiday season arrives, it often stirs up a whirlwind of emotions. While this time of year can be filled with joy and love, it also has a way of magnifying our stress and anxieties. However, amidst the chaos, there is an incredible tool that can help heal life's hard edges – art.Art, in all its various forms, has an unparalleled ability to mend wounds, relieve stress, and ignite a sense of connection within us. Whether it is through painting, photography, music, dance, or any other artistic expression, engaging in the creative process holds the power to bring people together and provide solace during the holiday season, and indeed, throughout the entire year. One of the most beautiful aspects of art is its ability to transport us from the hectic schedules and pressures of everyday life. By immersing ourselves in a creative endeavor, we are giving ourselves permission to let go, to immerse in our imagination, and to escape temporarily from the challenges that might be weighing us down. This act of immersion allows us to refresh our minds, recharge our souls, and rediscover a sense of tranquility. Moreover, art has the remarkable ability to heal our emotions. While the holiday season can be a time of great joy, it can also bring forth a variety of emotions – nostalgia, longing, grief, or even loneliness. Engaging in art during this time can be a therapeutic release, a way to channel these emotions into something productive and meaningful. Through creative expression, we can transform our pain, heartache, or confusion into something beautiful, allowing us to find solace and a sense of resolution.Art also has an inclusive nature; it brings people together like nothing else. The creative process is often enhanced when shared with others, as it opens the door for collaboration, connection, and inspiration. By engaging in art collectively, we learn new techniques, exchange ideas, and gain fresh perspectives. Whether it's participating in a painting class, joining a community choir, or even attending an art exhibition, these shared experiences foster a sense of belonging and unity, which is especially valuable during the holiday season. In addition to providing personal solace and promoting togetherness, art can be a catalyst for social change and reflection during the holiday season. Artists have a unique ability to shed light on societal issues, challenge norms, and inspire new ways of thinking. Through their creativity, they encourage conversations about topics that are often difficult or taboo, fostering empathy and understanding. In a world filled with division and turmoil, art acts as a beacon of hope, reminding us of our shared humanity and the power we have to bring about positive change. So, as the holiday season approaches, let us embrace the healing power of art. Let us allow ourselves the time and space to engage in the creative process, to immerse in our imagination, and to find solace. Let us seek out opportunities to connect with others through art, to share our experiences, and to uplift one another. And let us remember that, during this time, art can be a source of comfort, inspiration, and transformation, healing life's hard edges and bringing us closer together.

The Most Magical Day of the Week💫!

Dear Art Lover, Artist , Friend, and Adventurer,

I hope this email finds you well and filled with inspiration!

Today, I wanted to take a moment to reminisce about the wonderful times we shared during our school days, especially one particular day of the week that brightened our spirits - art class day!

Do you remember the anticipation and excitement we felt as our favorite day drew near?

For me, art class day was like stepping into a world where anything was possible. Our incredible art teacher brought along her magical art cart, filled to the brim with artistic wonders. From vibrant paints and brushes to sculpting clay and colored pencils, it was a trove of creativity waiting to be explored.

Under the guidance of our talented art teacher, we embarked on incredible artistic journeys, creating everything from paper mache puppets to remarkable self-portraits. Each session was an opportunity to unlock our imaginations and let them run wild. We were free to express ourselves and bring our innermost thoughts to life on the canvas.

Do you recall the feeling of pure bliss when we immersed ourselves in the process of creation? The joy that surged through our veins as we witnessed our ideas taking shape before our eyes? Art class day was not just about mastering techniques or creating masterpieces; it was a respite for our souls, nourishing them with the beauty of self-expression.

Art has a magical way of rejuvenating and inspiring us. It encourages us to look at the world through a different lens, to appreciate the colors, shapes, and textures that surround us in our everyday lives. It teaches us that there are no right or wrong answers in creativity, only endless possibilities waiting to be explored.

As we navigate the demands of our daily lives, I invite you to revisit the joy and fulfillment we experienced in art class. Take a moment to indulge in your creative side, whether it's picking up a paintbrush, writing a story, or simply doodling in a sketchbook. Let your imagination soar, for creativity knows no bounds.

And speaking of igniting your creative energy, don't miss my upcoming workshop on August 22 at the Markeim Arts Center. Join me as we delve into the world of art and tap into our creative potential. You can find more details and register at www.markeimartscenter.org. This is an opportunity you wouldn't want to miss!

In the midst of our busy lives, it's important to remember the simple joy that comes from expressing ourselves artistically. So, let's make time for creativity and allow it to fill our souls with pure delight once again!

Love, Peace, Joy & Creativity,

Sharon Ann

In my home studio!

In my home studio!

I've always wondered what an artist did to create a body of work even one piece of artwork let alone a "masterpiece"!!

Art was always a mystery to me even though I grew up close to my uncle, who was a teacher and working artist!

I never saw him truly at work in his studio or even teaching art! I saw him at family gatherings and walking the trials with his dog!

Never covered in paint or clay.  But now that I am a working artist and teacher I've come to learn the great secrets of artistry or  creativity.

Artistry and creativity require solitude and time away from the hustling , buzzing world we know. This is something that is extremely difficult to achieve in the current times in which we live. However; without the necessity of solitude an artist can never reach mastery or even just an inspired piece of artwork. Time away from demanding schedules and mundane tasks that we as adults can never seem to escape must be set far away in order to find solitude and that elusive creative world.

For art to come to fruition it is never born solely out of "talent'. Talent works in tandem with study, practice, cultivate, and repeat!

Works of art can only be found in the study of the subject we wish to paint, to sculpt, to play, to bring to life in a creative manner.

You may see my many works of heART as a subscriber to my art website or a visitor to my events or as a student in my workshops. Solitude is required to create the moments it takes to bring works of heART into life! Solitude in my studio or in nature with my paint and palette !

I am blessed to share my art with all of YOU! And when you purchase a piece of my artwork I could just sing with JOY! It makes me want to create even more, study even more and bring even more artistry to life!

So I thank you for being a part of my art journey and for coming to my events and supporting my workshops!

You are a blessing !

As summer fades and autumn arrives at my studio door I will be teaching more at The Markeim Art Center in Haddonfield, NJ and I have a home workshop fast approaching September 19 th 4-6 pm ! $45 all materials included and we will be creating a gorgeous pink peony! Visit my FB page or message me [email protected] for details and directions!

Also, My Collector's Circle sale is still going on so visit my website and purchase art from the heART at discount pricing! Get some early holiday gifts or buy yourself a from me to me gift !! Its always a good time to surround yourself with beautiful things!

Much Love and Light to you and yours !

This past Friday I closed my summer show at Eilandarts in Merchantville, NJ. And all I can say is "WOW:!

So many friends and family showed up that I was just blown away! You are the very BEST! I had so many messages wishing me good luck and blessing with my work that it was overwhelming ! I am truly grateful to be surrounded by so many people who love art and want to surround themselves with original art! It does a soul good !!

Art has been a forever place of magic and wonder for me and to be able to share that with others is pure happiness!

I create in solitude on most days. Im in a studio planning out my pieces and studying how to paint each set up to bring light and shadow on the form. I want to create pieces that are lovely and welcoming to the eye! I work diligently to form a painting that wants the viewer to sit a while and rest their eyes on the beauty of the painting! Other days I may stand outside capturing the landscape in solitude. BUT when the painting are complete I want them to be shared with rejoicing!

So, my beautiful friends, family, collectors and art lovers I thank you for sharing in my Joy last Friday and ask to keep the JOY going!

My 40% off sale is LIVE! go check it out on my site www.sharonannstudios.com OR on my IG stories Sharon Ann Studios and find a piece that speaks to you!
